Shelley Poland has spent the majority of her career in the ‘Hi Tech’ field, but felt that she had another calling. In 2004 she graduated from Red Rocks Community College with a certificate in Holistic Health. She was drawn to the sciences and healthcare, knowing there had to be an alternative and complement to standardized ‘western medicine.’ Shelley focused her studies on the ‘Energy’ modalities of Reflexology, Reiki and Healing Touch.

All three modalities are based on touch. Reflexology is a scientific art based on the premise that the feet and hands reflect the various parts of the body. By applying pressure to specific parts of the feet or hands, this results in stress reduction that causes physiological changes in the body. Reiki is the act of ‘laying of hands’ on the body to convey warmth, caring and loving. Reiki is used to help facilitate the healing of the whole person. The energy is drawn to those areas of the body that require it. Healing Touch can be used in conjunction with traditional therapies or as a stand-alone treatment. It is used to balance and align the human energy field and is useful in providing pain relief, symptom relief during or after chemotherapy, aids in the post operative healing process, support withdrawal from substance abuse, and strengthens and supports the immune system.

Shelley is married, has 2 grown sons, and 2 dogs that just can’t seem to get enough attention.
